Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity...
It's wonderful how God shows me in many ways how we as His children show encouragement to one another. In fact, He showed me very simply that encouraging someone is not just through words but through actions, too. A few weeks ago, I was watching my two sons, Jarrett, 21 months, and Kolton, 10 months old. They are just babies who can also encourage one another. Kolton was trying to learn how to crawl, he had been army crawling for awhile when he began trying it on all fours--a milestone in any baby book. This day, I noticed that Jarrett was watching Kolton particularly closely.
Kolton was trying with all his might to get up on all fours but would either fall or roll over, being the rollie pollie that he is. Jarrett decided to toddle over there and lend a hand. He wrapped his chubby little hands around Kolton's back to help prop him up on all fours, but Kolton just couldn't quite make it. I would like to think though, that Kolton tried all the harder just knowing his older brother was giving him this act of encouragement. Although they are just babies, they can still sense the value of lifting one another up. This sweet moment was one of many that I have seen so far as a mother. Big brother's little act of encouraging without words to his bub.
The scripture verse is very simple and straight forward. I tend to forget that encouraging each other each day isn't just through words, but also through actions that sometimes speak louder than words. Lending a hand without being asked or just smiling to simply comfort someone during their struggle is also an encouragement.
As you go through your busy day, I challenge you to look for opportunities where you can lift another's spirit even without speaking. Yes, there are many different ways to encourage, but it's just nice to have the comfort of just knowing that someone is there. Our best encouragement of all comes from Hebrews 13:5b...For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." What a promise and what an encouragement!!!
Heavenly Father, Thank you for Your encouragement everyday which comforts me by knowing Your always withe me day and night, through my ups and downs. I pray that You will help me make every opportunity, to encourage not just my loved ones, but others as well; to encourage not just by words but also by my actions. In Jesus' name, Amen.
