A Little Glimpse of Love without Words

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

Love is an essential choice as a follower of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us love is the greatest commandment to live out toward each other. As a mother of two little boys they had taught me a little glimpse of love without using words.

One late afternoon, we were all three lying on the floor watching the Disney movie, "Finding Nemo." After watching it for the third time that day, I started to dose off, although I was still wary of our surroundings. I heard my oldest say, "SHH" to his little bubba. After his warning , he grabbed the closest blanket from the recliner and laid it on top of my legs, like I have done with him before. Then unexpectedly, he wrapped his little chubby arm around my shoulder and cuddled up with me.

We are working on him to say "I love you," but even though he can't quite say it yet, he sure did demonstrate it. Reflecting on 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a, the passage teaches us love isn't by saying, "I love you" alone, but love is a demonstration, through our actions toward each other.

As a mom, I want to demonstrate little glimpses of love without words to my loved ones and others I come in contact with.

Father, thank you for giving us a clear description on what love is and for loving us even when we don't show love back to you. Teach us your love, so through your teaching we can love others. In Jesus' name Amen.
